Tour A

Sloy Power Station, owned and operated by Scottish and Southern Energy.  The reservoir has a capacity of 36 million cubic metres, and is formed by a concrete buttress dam approximately 56m high and 357m in length.  The reservoir provides water for generation at Sloy Power Station, the UK’s largest conventional hydropower station.  The visit will include both the dam and a brief tour of the power station and a short technical presentation on the proposals to modify the scheme to create a pump storage facility.
