Water turbine - A water turbine works like a waterwheel on a mill. However, a turbine wheel is enclosed in a watertight casing, and water enters and leaves the turbines through pipes. As water flows over the blades of the wheel, it forces the wheel to turn. A shaft (or rod) is connected to the centre of this wheel and at the other end of it connects into an electric generator. The shaft turns as the wheel turns and transfers energy to the generator.
